Seminar/Workshop
(lecture, discussion, meditation, exercises)
Duration 3 hours - 2 days
Ideal for conference breakouts (or as a stand-alone workshop). Suits caregivers, teachers, clergy, therapists.
What do all religions have in common? How do find real common ground with people of different traditions? What do our own experiences teach us about the underlying mystical order of the universe. And what are we really here for?
This seminar uses the story of Becoming Me as a means to develop profound, personal interfaith understanding.
Marty draws on ideas, stories, and poetry from different faiths to illuminate the deeper meaning of each short phrase in Becoming Me, while one of Chris Gilvan-Cartwright's images is projected as a focus for contemplation. Participants are invited to share their own experiences, stories, and poems, and their understanding of their own tradition.
This is an expereince of what Marty calls “philsophy from the heart” — we are exploring profound ideas but in a way that is deeply connected to personal experience and deep listening.
Moving through the story in this collaborative way, we develop a personal understanding of the common themes of different faiths.
